🌹 Traditional/Typical clothes challenge🌹

I bring up a little silly challenge for your OCs yippee 🌹Rules • The basic not tracing or Ai. • You can participate as many times you want, use different ocs or try as many clothes you like • No deadline. • Have fun✨ DISCLAIMER: I think I used the wrong term, so not traditional, TYPICAL, I promise there's something everywhere! I'm really curious for the entrys, I love traditional costumes and seeing people draw things from their cultures<333

Mieke&Riko ~ Kebaya+Batik+Ulos

Thank you @kiremii for making this challenge! I usually hate drawing complicated clothes... but this is very fun to draw!!

so quick disclaimer (!!) Indonesia is very much a multi-ethnic country (and that is an understatement, we have over 1,000 recognized ethnic groups alone out here) so I do not mean for this portrayal to represent Indonesia as a whole. This is just two examples of traditional clothes that I'm familiar with :)

Mieke (left one) is wearing Baju Kebaya (top) and Kain Batik (bottom).
Kebaya is commonly worn by ethnic groups in Java and Bali (there are different kebaya types for different ethnic groups, for this particular challenge I'm using Kebaya Kutubaru).

Kain Batik is also common in Java. In modern times, a lot of batik cloths are printed and mass produced for a much cheaper price. Traditionally, batik is made with stamps, or drawn and colored by hand (i.e. Batik Tulis, which is considered the most "authentic" batik).

Riko is wearing Kain Ulos. Unlike batik, this garment is made with tenun method (a weaving technique). This attire is worn by the Batak ethnic group of Sumatra island. Different types of Ulos are worn for different purposes. For this challenge I'm using Kain Ulos Ragi Hotang, a kain that symbolizes love/bond which is usually worn for weddings.Dec 10, 2023
