Save Nature June: Georgia Aster

This beautiful flower is the Symphyotrichum georgianum, or Georgia aster. Though not endangered, it's vulnerable, and its numbers are declining. According to Wikipedia, “146 populations are estimated to remain. Threats to the survival of the species include elimination of habitat disturbance such as fire. Other threats include road construction and herbicide application.”
