Today is the most NO day I've experienced in a while "motivation wise"
The heat of summer isn't helping.
What's a trick to get back into motivation for art and work? If there's any!Jun 14, 2023

Drawing in the evening while drinking something cold and listening to calm music is really nice

•I’d say think of something that you really want to draw, something that you want to see come to life, as opposed to what you’re currently working on.
I completely relate by the way.

•I had a teacher once who said smthn like “to create, you have to draw inspiration from experiences, which you can’t do if you’re only ever drawing”.
So he was always lending us books to read just for fun and encouraging us to do things other than art, because it’s hard to draw inspiration from the world when we’ve been too busy creating art to experience other parts of it.
That’s super long winded and pretentious sounding lol, but I’ve generally found it useful! When I get burnout, I treat it as a sign to take an art break and really dive into my other interests, because I’ll always find something that inspires me along the way. :)
I love going for walks, listening to music, reading, hanging out at places where I can people-watch, playing games, etc. Just giving myself permission to take a break and take comfort in knowing it will help in the long run!
Best of luck!! It’s always frustrating cause art is genuinely so fun and rewarding haha.

•At times while I work or do something else not related to art it's when inspiration comes back to me. Myself, who I have a desk job as a secretary, I get inspired constantly while performing non artistic tasks, since it's when my mind takes a break from art and focuses on something else.
Also music helps a lot, especially music that makes me think in my own characters.
