For the og world (i have different aus for my ocs) julian wanted to become someone that did their own thing, like a musician or artist (not sure if he can draw tho, said artist bcuz he was going artistic route) while his parents insisted on getting a real job/being a construction worker or salesperson in the marketplace (time period is 1700s i think)
He looked up to his brother rudy a bit at that time, so when rudy left to take a voyage away from home, julian and their sister (julian's the youngest) soon followed after and so they both became pirates (sister became a tavern owner) and more free to do whatever they please (despite having to be on the run to avoid getting arrested but yea) and so now he living the good life
