A friend is asking you for advice. The friend likes someone and that someone likes them back but the two had been friends for so long that your friend is scared it won't work out if they get into a relationship and they would lose what they already have, how do you advice this friend?

I'm writing a book but I suck at giving advices so I need your opinions

I'd tell them to think seriously why they like the person and if they want to be in a relationship, why do they feel like it may not work/ruin everything. When they explain to me why, I'd ask them to think about why they responded the way they did. Do they think this person would treat them weirdly or wrongly in a relationship? Do they like the current dynamic and are afraid of change? Does it seem like anxiety is talking? Figure out the cause of the fears and then boost them up to see the solutions there are. And of course, encourage them to try! But, and this is the kicker, let them know it's ok to choose to not be in a relationship. It's ok to prioritize a current friendship over a potential romantic entanglement.
Life is about risks, tbh. If people don't take risks, no one can move forward. And the thing about moving forward is to let go. If the risk you took did not give you a satisfying result, let it go and move on. (Oof look at me being a wise NPC 💀)
The person who asks them out should start taking them out on dates and then confess
This actually happened to me irl, except i was the friend who liked someone. I ended up just asking my bestfriend out, he said yes, and now we are very happily dating. I think its at least worth a shot
I'd say if they can talk and have good communication - or are willing to learn good communication - go for it. Most couples break up bc they don't learn how to really communicate with each other.
It won't happen. Well, its possible, but never for a dumb reason. Most of the time if you split up then you kinda just avoid eachother for a little after a mutual agreement.

If they do become un-friends, its because one find out some horrifying thing about the other or notice them to be incredibly manipulative and for the wrong reasons.
