@danny_fox's post on Artfol

Anyone knows what's currently the best app for gaining an audience and posting your art?

If someone says Instagram, I will be upset

In all honesty, tiktok. If you want to be around zombies, lose your data to chinese gov like marks apps do & to see cancerogenous toxic shorts for sake of getting popular. You can avoid them tho I think. Other than that, tumblr. I think tumblr is last option to be on for bigger art community. Bluesky is non-corpo twitter. Inkblot is fairly new but idk. I won't type about threads because obv it links to insta. I think none of platforms can be good. There are pros & cons of any of those. Just stick to the one that makes you comfortable & not stressed out.
I think at the end of the day whatever you choose, you're still gonna have to put in pure time to grow your audience with or without an algorithm.

Too many people have become reliant on algorithms to do the hard work for them rather than them actually liking, engaging, and interacting with others.

I think smaller platforms like Artfol have an edge because it's easier to be seen.
There really isn't a single best option anymore. Every site has its problems and risks right now, so you really just have to pick whatever site/app feels comfortable for you and do your best to grow there.
Tiktok probably, I've tried like everything underneath the sun and Tiktok, as toxic as it can be, is the best way to get views and attention, at least in my experience
Honestly? TikTok.
I’ve had more success there then anywhere else. 11k, and I’ve only been posting for about 2 years.
The issue with it though is that it’s incredibly inconsistent, my views will go from 400k to 175 views. But it’s honestly the best for getting your stuff out there.

Tumblr is also nice but only if you post fandom stuff
