TheStarfishface has written a whole book about it: "How to Webcomic: the ultimate guide to making online comics" with a lot of tips regarding comics in general no matter if online or printed (actually helped me a lot when I wanted to print something since they explained what the dpi settings of your canvas should be in order to make good quality prints)
