I'm working on a series of deity illustrations where I research their story and then make a small drawing of them. Today is the perfect day to share my drawing of Tu'er Shen the Chinese Rabbit God of
relationships (specifically male)
His story is tragic as he didn't even really do anything other than admit he had feelings for a military personnel and for that he was beaten and
but was given God hood for it
Now the details of his story are a little shaky. I had a hard time finding definitive details and trustworthy sources.
It seems he has gained notoriety in recent years. There's a really cool short film called the "kiss of the rabbit god" directed by Andrew Thomas Huang that I would recommend watching. It's a modern story of a man who meets Tu'er Shen and explores what it means to be Chinese American and Gay.Feb 14, 2025
