How long do you spend sketching? Do you do multiple sketches and select the best between them?
My answer: For me, for my personal art, it's pretty fast, really. I whip out a rough version or two of what I want and then do 1 or 2 more refined versions of that and I'm good to go. I problem solve along the way.
I wonder if I could achieve more playful extreme look by experimenting more and pushing my ideas further in the sketch phase.

It depends. If I'm in "the zone" while sketching something that I'm used to drawing, and I have a reference picture, it takes around 20 - 60 minutes.
Sometimes sketching can take me 2 hours if I'm art blocked and / or drawing something outside of my comfort zone

I just do one sketch and correct it as I go along and if I don't like it I just end up not continuing it
I don't actually use guidelines often I just draw the outline and add details later
But most sketches I make take about 10 minutes? I don't really notice

Mine's pretty fast too, actually. I only do a very rough sketch with some shapes here and there, but that's about it. I usually take longer on the lineart instead.

1-2 days. Often I nail the pose I wanted in the first three attempts, but sometimes I need to stop and try again another day with a fresher mind. Sketching is the hardest part for me. Bonus points if it is a new character design I'm not used to yet.
•
Aw dude, I spend at least thirty minutes perfecting how exactly I'm gonna pose the character, then I do two or three runs of a sketch and only THEN I do the final lineart
•
I spend like a good hour or two working on the sketch, then I do the lineart, which takes 30mins - 1hour

•
Mine varies, something simple I can knock out in minutes, more complex ideas can be hours of time
•
hours , minions, or seconds. I can't pin point it cause sometimes I'll watch YouTube or use social media then and the next I'm drawing or work
•
•It can take me 1-2 days to make the sketch depending on my mood and if I have a clear idea of what I want to draw (who needs prep work when you can improvise? XD.... Please plan your stuff out first before doing anything-)
•
I strongly dislike sketching out my ideas first as i get too carried away. Soo my drawings are sketches? Idk

•
I do many notes, multiple thumbnails, and studies along with my sketches to get the full understanding on what I want to do/convey in majority of my pieces. This process can either take hours, days, maybe months for me (:
•
It depends cause maybe it's a work for the next day (ooouh yes working the day before... My passion) but if I don't have a clear idea maybe I do a lot of sketches like 4 and then take those I like and add more details til' get the best

•
I usually do a small thumbnail first to decide what I like and then I pick the best one and start the actual sketch. My sketches are hella messy so they usually don’t take me longer then a few minutes
