This whole comic and au is the definition of “I could make him worse” but I’ve actually considering the idea that Shen is actually mentally doing better in this au.Despite him being a bit of a disaster physically, struggling to adapt to being physically disabled, from literally having a cannon fall on him. He’s actually doing better mentally.
The eternal weight of a prophecy of his demise that was weighing on him for his entire life came to pass. He was technically defeated but he beat the prophecy, he’s still alive.
He thinks this is his real chance to claim his “true destiny”, as the true emperor of China.
And on the way he also wants to laugh in the face of everyone who’s ever doubted him. Unleashing a long-con revenge scheme on Po and everyone around him, but sending a feral Japanese assassin to generally make his life hell.
Shen also has something resembling a support system now, in the form of that samurai he abandoned, Akira. She doesn’t quite understand his whole plan but she’s very supportive, being a firm believer in “divine revenge”.
Shen will do something or say something incredibly fucked up and Akira will respond with a smile and something along the lines of “that’s great sweetie”.May 6, 2023
