Do you guys ever struggle drawing from imagination?

I always have such vivid or crazy ideas I want to make into art, but then it never looks like how I envision it when I put it on paper.

Do you guys ever feel the same? If so, what do you guys do to get better at drawing from imagination? Like certain drawing exercises or whatnot?

I feel the same...I usually have many ideas that could be good drawings but when I draw it on paper it does not look as I imagined
I feel like this is 100% every artist's dilemma 😭 art is like a journey to get what's in your mind on the page. It's SO DIFFICULT 😭😭😭 i definitely feel the same. Lately I've been trying to improve my technical skill (perspective/ thinking 3 dimensionally/ pose practice) and that helps me alot with drawing what's in my mind on to the page
I feel this 100%. It always looks amazing in my head but it doesn’t look the same when I draw it. I just try to look up references and hope to find something similar to what I was imagining
100% YES! It happened all the time when I was starting as an artist. It made me extremely frustrated at the time, but I just kept drawing and started improving. I don’t really have any tips on how to get past this though, since I sort of just outgrew it and now focus on what I can do with my art style currently. Occasionally it will happen, but really the only advice I can give is to just try to draw it and look at references. Even if it looks nothing like what you pictured, it’s still good practice and may help you if you choose to redraw it in the future. If you start getting upset or discouraged that the drawings don’t look like what you wanted them to, then I would recommend you take a break from drawing what you pictured in your mind and instead draw something easy that you’ve drawn before and are more experienced with drawing. Hope this helped ^^
i have full aphantasia so yes all the time! i tend to collage together a bunch of references and inspiration before putting pen to paper
ALOT! It feels like the idea isnt fleshed out for me sometimes. But I started making mood boards and it helped me improve alot more from imagination!
At first yes, but I got better by purposely drawing sloppy drawings without thinking or trying to be prefect or specific. It helped me get over the hurdle of “it doesn’t look the same on paper” and my imagination allowed me to create new things on the paper!
