sometimes i look at some art and i just get so jealous at how good it looks
I know I shouldn’t, i know it’s a bad feeling, but it’s really hard to not be angry at myself/my art for not being good enough for me
Often i have to avoid artists that I really like otherwise i’ll just feel shitty about myself dhskwb
I know it’s dumb and pathetic, and i only feel like this because i’m in some sort of artblock, and it will pass, but for now it doesn’t feel goodOct 30, 2023

That was the reason I stopped doing art, I felt bad about how my art looked and I kept comparing saying how it wasn’t as good as so and so’s art, I’m still not in it again, but one little thought was the trigger to this, just enjoy your art, it’ll never be as good as someone else’s art so don’t expect it to be

If it makes you feel better, you’re like the first artist I’ve ever seen on social media and actively wanted to keep looking back at your art
I literally used your artwork as what my inspiration was for an art slideshow thing in my art class. THATS HOW MUCH I ADMIRE YOU! It feels good to have admirers so be the admirer the other artists want to have. If you genuinely like someone’s art, that’s a good thing!
On another note, you definitely draw and improve your art way faster and more than me. I know it’s not good to compare yourself, but if you’re comparing yourself to people who you feel are ‘above’ you, you might as well acknowledge that there are also many many people who do not have near the amount of talent that you possess <3

Tell them you like their art! TELL THEM THE WORLD NEEDS MORE TALKERS.
And then you can cherrypick what you like about it! Integrate it into what you do. You can be a big mix of all you love of others!

Same, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who feels like that! I also hate when people put their age in their bio.... Like, I don't want to see that you're a 14 year old genius artist because now I can't follow you and look at your art without hating myself. Thanks, nonexistent self esteem. :')
Same with people I know started drawing around the same time as me or we started following each other when we were around the same level, but then they improved so much faster and are way better than me now.

I think this happens to everyone at some point. And ME TOO x'D it happens way more than I'd like to admit

Every artist goes through this feeling regardless of their skill level, not once but multiple times. Saying this doesn't change anything but just to let you know you're not alone.

I think almost everyone feels that sometimes D: I’ve been in artblock for months but I’m never happy w my stuff anyways
But ur such an inspirationnnnn !! To me definitely and probably everyone on here <33

I’m sorry you are going through those feelings. We all need to learn to be kinder to ourselves and that we are good enough. I haven’t really drawn much in a year because of similar reasons and depression. I know one of the main culprits is social media. I remember before I had social media or when social media was still a new concept in 2005, I was drawing for myself and didn’t really compared it much. I feel ever since I got social media in 2014 and art became more and more accessible, too often I find myself comparing my work to others, seeing other peoples success while I was not. It hurt a lot. But it is not other people, it was me hurting myself. And we as an artists society has dug a toxic hole for ourselves and it is never ending. I don’t have the answers. Just know you are not alone with those feelings.
