Fullbody commission
I finished this commission last week and while my client liked it I couldnāt help but feel something was missing. Lately my art has felt a bit stiff so if anyone could critique my posing in particular thatād be lovely! My clientās character is shy, confident in her abilities, and has a warm smile. I was trying to show that in the pose and expression. Critique of everything else is welcome too of course. Thank you!

Yo this is so nice! I would take a look at maybe lengthening the arm that's holding the splattershot pro. It's definitely shorter than the other arm if you were to unbend it!! For avoiding pose stiffness, I would suggest doing really quick (like 30s or less), loose gestures before you do your actual sketch and line art on top. For help on that, I reccomend looking up things like "line of action" and examples of gesture sketches and even the basic principles of exaggeration in drawing. Drawing directly from life has helped me a ton with proportions and shapes, but using reference is an okay runner up for sure. You can even take your own pictures or sit near a mirror if you can't find exactly what you're looking for! In any case, I think besides those things, your colors are nice and everything reads precisely as what it's supposed to be. Your shading is nice and subtle, which definitely works here! All in all great job!

ā¢If youāre having issues with stiff looking characters I would recommend using more dynamic references that really show the person moving around. Overall I think this looks fantastic and you did a great job of capturing the characterās shyness!
