I still experience that when i ask friends for critique - they usually tell me the piece looks good and they cant see anything wrong with it. But i'm looking for ways to improve - not the reassurance that my art looks great 
that's why i live art communities like you guys here on artfol or certain discord servers, other artists know we're looking for constructive criticism so i usually end up getting some areas pointed out i can improve on

•Yes! I miss when people would be honest about criticism (a little harsh). I just don't like when people critique stylistic choices
