(Fictional and also real body horror talk/)
I am currently fixated on the idea of a werewolf's transformation requiring them to tear off their human skin and it being commonplace to eat it during the process in order to regenerate energy since it must be taxing, in the same way many animals eat the placenta after birth.
Transformation is organic but transformation is also magic, and I think part of that magic is that instinct. To know your body is changing and to know how to sustain it. Not seeing either as grotesque, even though they are. A caterpillar digesting its own body inside of a pupa is beautiful and gross and so is a human who feels something growing inside of her and kicking her ribcage. A doctor taking skin from a man's thigh and creating a new organ for him is a work of magic and a werewolf digging his claws into his back and pulling that skin toward those newborn fangs is a work of nature. I love the cyclical nature of change and I want to find comfort in it.Nov 24, 2023

I really like that idea. It is gross for a human, but the idea that werewolves would be less human on multiple levels is so cool.
