With great difficulty
where I live it's light for only a few hours during winter
So I tend to take multiple photos in one day when the light is pretty good
I try to make sure there's even light (like two windows in a room) or move the art closer to the light
Editing photos help
I also saw that you can make foil reflectors which sounds handy

I just flip my sketchbook up as straight as possible with one hand or any available thing to stabilize it while I take a picture, like that the shadow of the phone can’t be casted down on the paper

Put the light source (window lmao) between me and the paper, it's not super bright tho ofc but %80 light always does the job well

I let the light come not from the front, but a bit from the side. Not the side of the phone
. If I can, I have multiple lights coming from multiple sides, so that the drawing has an even light overall. If the light comes from one side only, I orientate the drawing so that the direction of the lamp is the same direction of the lightsource on the drawing. This way, even if the light is not even on the surface, but the furthest part of the sheet is a bit darker, it's less noticeable. Then I usually modify the picture a bit, depending on the situation I might increase the contrast, or lower the light, or enchance the colours, but never by a lot.

I use more than one light source. Than I take my phone, zoom in, go back and than shoot the photo. Scanning a drawing is also possible but I had to play with setting and so on to get a good resolution.

•I suggest using natural sunlight and make sure your phone is at the opposite direction of the light source

I know you said no scanner but hear me out ! I always use the scanner on the notes app on my iphone and it works well enough (I don’t own an actual scanner)
Although I’m not sure what type of phone you use
there might be an app that you can use to scan a drawing
Aside from that I usually have to find somewhere with a lot of natural lighting and play around with the angle

•I sit the drawing up (since it's always still in my sketchbook it can hold up a little better) against something, usually my legs lol
then I take a picture of it
if it's angled right, a shadow won't cast
I always edit it to make the drawing more visible and the shadow (if any) less visible too
