° question for commissioners °
any tips? im thinking of opening commissions in the next few months, not only as another source of income but also to push my limits as an artist, but i have a lot of questions.
▪how do you decide prices?
▪where/how do you take payments?
▪whats a good place to start without getting majorly overwhelmed?
▪any tips about commissioning while working and being in school?

Prices I would recommend you charge how you deserve and by the hours it takes you to complete the artworks, if you’re noticing your artworks take a little too long for you to find the prices reasonable i recommend finding ways to speed up your turnaround so you’re not working so hard. I would also recommend a half now half later payment in case of scamming, so there’s minimal loss💕
I use my mother and sister’s PayPal as it’s secure and I’m still a minor myself. You could probably find a way using an app to transfer money within your country. You can try doing irl commissions with friends, parent’s work mates and relatives for physical cash. 💕
I originally started by doing a couple things on aminos depending on your style of artworks and interests, every community should have people willing to pay for drawings of their characters, a lot of RP communities, Discord chats and Twitch Channels love to have emotes for reactions. 💕
For commissions and being in school, don’t be afraid to turn down commissions you don’t think you would be able to complete and possibly suggest an artist friend as an alternative (a good way to make friends). Know your work load and if you get enough commissions set up a time frame within your day to work on them so you can give estimate completions for the commissions 💕

Don’t forget you do not owe anything to anyone and if someone is disrespecting you and your work, just politely decline and/or block the person
