Total Drama - I Want You To Be Happier

(Before I start, I just want to specify that I don't want to start a new shipping-war. This is just my personal opinion & my take on the "Duncney" ship up until TDA. Keep it respectful if you want to share your opinions. Rude comments aimed only to insult me or anybody else will be deleted and the owners of those comments will be blocked).

So, I want to start by saying that I really liked Duncney during TDI. Their whole relationship, by the end of the first season, seemed to be leading to a whole different and more healthy development. It was the classic "bad boy and good girl learn from each other to be more moderate on their ways thanks to their love and mutual influence" trope, which I honestly never disliked as long as it was properly presented. The real problems, in my opinion, started during TDA, when the development from the previous season of both of their characters seemed to be almost completely thrown out of the window in order to create more drama in the series and still be interesting. Duncan was back to be a full-out bully/criminal, unwilling to change his ways and Court somehow changed from being an uptight goody-two-shoes with an addiction for rules to a ruthless, angry and violent contestant, completely incapable of playing by the rules. Now, I do understand more or less how they ended up being like that, but I personally didn’t like it. A lot could be said about their later developments even after they ended their relationship during TDWT and TDAS, but I'm gonna skip that in order to tackle the "violent" topic. It's true, Duncan has always been the bully/criminal/asshole punk stereotype, but as far as I can tell he was never violent towards his love interests. He played the thug role in order to hide his softer side, a side he was ashamed of. Now, I think we can all agree he was never a "good boyfriend/person" nonetheless, but I don't think anyone deserves to be kicked just for that. I've always felt like the most violent one in their relationship was Court (just think about all the times she's been shown punching and kicking him, especially on his genitals. This still leads me to think to a toxic relationship more than anything).
Anyway, this whole reasoning led me to the creation of this pic. I wanted to place it at the start of the events narrated during the special episode "Celebrity Manhunt". I imagined Duncan waking up in the morning in their devastated room, with Courtney still sleeping at his side after the last fight they had the previous night (therefore the bruises and the destroyed room) and the pace making which came after it. I wanted him to think seriously about their relationship for what it is, a mere seek for strong emotions which can only be provided by each other, and to realize that he still loves her nonetheless, but in order to gain true happiness for the both of them, he has to leave her.

I don't know, probably it's just my opinion, but I think that would have made a better development than the whole cheating/love triangle drama that came after it and that haunted the following seasons. Don't get me wrong, he still could have ended up with Gwen after it (I kinda like that ship too!), just in different circumstances. From my personal point of view, the events that happened after TDA are the definitive downfall for every single character involved.

Anyway, I hope that if you won't like the reasoning behind my pic, at least you can like it for its looks!
I did really enjoy drawing it!
