Artists and Viewers
Artists are creators of worlds. They take an empty canvas, think up a vision, and make that vision real. They create something out of nothing. It takes time, and thought, and heart. Then viewers come along and glance at it for a few seconds, and pass judgement. They like it or dislike it. And that’s fine. When I dislike an art piece, then I assume it just wasn’t made for me. Not a big deal. I just scroll past, and continue my day. My problem is when viewers believe that if they dislike it, they should be allowed to voice those opinions, and judge it based on what they feel is right. If an artist makes something “too real”, “too gory”, “too nsfw”, etc. why do people think they get to judge based on what is too much for them? If it isn’t something they like, why can’t they just unfollow or scroll past? Why do people feel that these artists must create things specifically tailored to their interests and opinions? I don’t know, what do you guys think? How do you guys react to art that you don’t like? Do you feel the need to comment that you don’t like it or do you just scroll past and carry on?Jul 23, 2021

If I find something I don't like I won't like/dislike or comment- I literally just scroll past. I'm not a confrontational person (even online) and I don't like spreading hate or anything. It's not who I am or what I do. If I don't like the person I'll just block them and move on.
If someone is asking for a critique on something I don't like I either won't critique it or I'll just treat it as unbiased as I can. I won't go "well I don't like the pose of the character because it makes me uncomfortable" but rather say something along the lines of "the position of the arm looks a little weird, I suggest moving the hand to the right a little to make it look more natural". When people want constructive criticism I will do my best to give them that (on top of mentioning things I like about the piece to balance out the "bad").
