I intend to go for the pro, it seems a lot better for illustration. I haven’t read too much about the air though so you should definitely look at other artists reviews, you can probably find some on yt. Just depends what you need ig

Definitely the pro — the surface and the whole ipad is made in a way that it feels the most natural to draw on the screen imo.
The apple pencil apparently does work with the Air though and I know some people who work on it :)
My personals suggestion is if you can to go into an apple store and test out both products to see what feels the best for you
