I went for a car ride with my family this evening, and I just looked out the window and let my mind wander with the 80s music while I stared at the stars.
And I had an epiphany.
For four years I’d been wrestling with how my ocs were supposed to coexist. As one of my oldest ocs, Sparky is really important to the comic but is also kinda just… there. I always had a really difficult time trying to create a backstory for him. I tried to fit a lot of concepts, but none of them fit to my liking, and then it hit me - ALTERNATE TIMELINES.
Who said this had to be super realistic? It’s my comic, I’ll bend the laws of science and logic as far as I can go. So we have my lil gang yeah? Joanna, Jay, Chad and Leandra. They all live in a normal timeline, some could even suggest that it’s our timeline. But in the past of ANOTHER timeline exists Sparky, our important character with no backstory… until now. He somehow ends up in the gang’s timeline where his parents never met, meaning he was never meant to exist, yet here he is. He shows up on the property of some other important characters, Dan, Anissa and Ryder, who find him lost and take him in to find his parents. But since this isn’t his original reality, no records of any kind can be found of him by social services and no one appears to be looking for him on the news, which ends up with Sparky, confusedly, remaining with Anissa and the others, and they basically end up like family to eachother anyway.
But here’s the kicker - Sparky always feels out of place and deep down feels alone, but he doesn’t remember who he is or where he comes from
So yeah, I FINALLY HAVE SOME LORE FOR THE CORE PLOT OF MY COMIC AYYYY :DDDDApr 2, 2022

Nice, sounds like a great metaphor for feeling out of place in society and not knowing where you belong in the world. Very relatable themes and lots of potential to explore the internal feelings of this dilemma using fantasy elements
