The Sun in Her HandsThis is an oil painting in progress. I'm still figuring out the colors and lighting, but would appreciate any tips on the color scheme and the placement of the shadows! Also debating on trying to mimick those paint drips with my oil paint, not cover it (since the base layer is gouache paint from a year ago), or to completely paint over it and change the lighting/colors of the wall. I originally painted the walls of the room white so that the overall shape makes a crescent moon (to help with the contrast between the sun and the moon), but unsure if I want to change it or keep the impression.
I'm also still figuring out how much detail to put in the background, to keep it as vague forms of mountain ranges or to add a castle or small buildings in the distance. Any other thoughts about which parts of the painting you like, dislike, think are the strongest/weakest points are appreciated!!Apr 17, 2021
