Wear your colours with pride
The women in this painting was always treated badly for colour of skin. But now she wears her colours with pride. The flower on her head represents her being feminine but also strong. Being strong doesn't mean your less of a women, but that is what many men(and some women) say. The women painted here is proudly looking over her shoulder into the world made for the white men.
