Peppa-Mint (Shopkins) - 20250520

I just finished another digital art piece today—and this time, it’s fan art! As much as I love illustrating my original characters, now and then I find joy in bringing someone else’s character to life, especially when they’re as adorable as Peppa-Mint from the Shopkins Shoppies doll line. I’ve always admired her charming, candy-coated look and gentle yet bubbly personality. So I thought, why not give her a soft, storybook-style treatment with all the sweet little details she deserves?

In this artwork, I drew Peppa-Mint standing beneath a garden arch, basking in a sunny day that matched her cheerful vibes. She has this dreamy look in her eyes, as if she’s thinking of something sweet—maybe the latest scoop of Shopville gossip or her favourite frozen treat. Her long, flowing hair is a shiny light teal, smooth and bouncy, almost like minty whipped cream. It falls down her back in a gentle wave, catching the sunlight and glowing with a soft pastel hue.

Her face is just as expressive and dainty as I remember from her toy form—wide, sparkling eyes in a lovely shade of light azure, glowing with curiosity and calm delight. Her cheeks are brushed with the softest shade of pink, like strawberry frosting, and her lips are dark pink, shaped in a sweet smile that hints at her shy but syrupy personality. I can't help but feel a sense of nostalgia as I gaze at her, remembering the joy she brought me as a child. The way she effortlessly embodies sweetness and innocence is truly captivating.

Atop her head is the iconic brown headband, styled like a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream, complete with a mini cone and a generous drizzle of chocolate syrup. Alongside it are two pink bows and a strawberry swirl decoration that completes her frozen dessert theme. I added a little extra shine and texture to make the scoops look tasty enough to eat! It's amazing how a simple doll can hold so many memories and emotions within its plastic frame.

Her outfit is full of delicious details, too. She wears a sleeveless top made of light brown waffle-like fabric, which fades into a gooey, dark chocolate syrup effect around the shoulders and lower torso. The texture looks like it's melting in the summer heat, just like how she sometimes melts down emotionally in the show! Her skirt is a delightful swirl of light pink with a rich raspberry-pink lining. The ruffle flares gently as if caught in a breeze, and I decorated it with pastel dots to resemble candy-coated nuts, tying everything back to her ice cream sundae theme.

She’s holding two bags—one in each hand. The left bag looks like a square chocolate cupcake with mint-green icing dripping over it, and it’s hanging from two glittery pink straps. Her right hand carries a matching pink bag, topped with mint scoops and brown candy dots, almost like cookie dough chunks. Each bag complements her overall dessert fashion sense while giving her a bit of flair, as if she just came back from a Shopville shopping trip.

Let’s talk about her shoes—they’re just too cute. They mimic the waffle cone texture from her top and are topped with scoops of strawberry ice cream, complete with chocolate sprinkles. I shaped them to look like chunky platform slippers, soft and cushiony, as if she’s walking on scoops of sweetness. Her legs cross gracefully, giving her a dainty, daydreamy pose that fits her shy and gentle character so well. The overall look is both whimsical and stylish, showcasing her unique and creative fashion sense.

Peppa-Mint has always stood out to me, not just for her ice-cream-inspired design, but also for the layers of her character. She might look chilled, but she’s famous for having mini meltdowns—something I can relate to, especially when things get a bit too warm or wild. Yet despite those wobbly moments, she’s kind, caring, and sticks closely to her friends. There’s warmth beneath the coolness, and that contrast makes her more than just a “sweet” character—it makes her lovable.

Her name is, of course, a playful pun—“Peppa-Mint” sounds like “peppermint,” a popular ice cream flavour, while also echoing the familiar name “Peppa.” And much like peppermint, she’s refreshing, classic, and just the right mix of cool and sweet. In Shopville, she’s the one to go to if you want the scoop—not just on ice cream, but also on the latest talk of the town. That little detail inspired me to add a subtle sparkle to her eyes, as if she’s always listening and thinking deeply, even when she looks calm and quiet.

Looking back at this artwork, I feel proud of how the colours, pose, and setting turned out. It was a pleasure mixing my soft, illustrative style with her vibrant, dessert-themed palette. It reminded me of how fun it is to work with characters that are both whimsical and warm-hearted. That’s one scoop of inspiration I’ll happily take any day. Creating art that not only reflects the personality of the character but also incorporates unique details is always a rewarding experience. It's a reminder of the joy that comes from blending different elements to bring a piece to life.
