la biblioteca de abuelo (grandpa’s library) 
this is a piece i did for one of my classes in my last semester of uni!! the prompt was the life and work of Ricardo Alegría, a very important figure in puerto rican history and culture. in doing research, i found out he had a library in his house and it reminded me a lot of the library that used to be in my grandparent’s house when i was a kid and decided to focus on that. to him, it was very important to teach kids about puerto rican history and culture, so i added one of his granddaughters into the painting as if she were playing in his library the way my cousins and i did in my grandparent’s library. in fact, that same granddaughter organized a whole event to celebrate his life and work, where this piece was part of the exhibition!!Apr 24, 2021#woodencanvas
