The way I paint my figurines

Here are around 5 or 6 base layers, I've lost count already

It's better to use many thin layers than a couple of thick ones, as the paint will lay rough, can hide fine details, dry badly and leave visible brush strokes. Yes, thin layers take much more time, but it's worth the wait. It's a big difference if you try it yourself.

You can see that the figurines are still not totally white, but I don't need this right now. I used white as an underlay and can start painting other big areas of different colors the same way.
