I’ve been thinking a lot about creating a concept for a short RPG game. Since I don’t have any experience in game development, I figured it would be a good idea to start with a small project. Something manageable that lets me explore the process before committing to a bigger goal which is making a full horror RPG.
One idea I have is a pirate themed RPG where you go on sea adventures above and under water, search for treasure, face enemies, and short story dialogue. I also have a few old pirate OCs I never properly introduced, except for one who is Christopher, cutie sailor kiddo who would likely be the main playable character with his stronk pirate crew

For now, I plan to focus on building the concept, redesigning some of my characters, and trying to write a simple script while figuring out how to keep the game short but enjoyable. That part might be a bit challenging since I suck at storytelling (I’m better at holding my stylus). After that, I’ll move on to the technical parts like development and coding, which will probably take time. (ᵕ—ᴗ—)
Once I have more confidence with the process, I might start working on my main goal. I just hope I’ll have enough time to achieve what I’m aiming for. I’m not expecting it to be perfect, but at least I’ll feel accomplished. ૮₍ ´ ꒳ `₎ა ✧Apr 8, 2026

Naval adventure lends itself well to episodic format; maybe start with just a single town and/or dungeon, if you're going for something more traditional/story-based. That'll give you some experience with a full game loop and get your feet wet in terms of all the basic systems you might include (combat, 1-2 shops, dialogue, exploration, etc.) though it also depends on what engine you're using as well.

•That sounds so exciting! Best of luck creating your little game, and on pursuing your final project too!
