Revisiting childhood movies - Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian
Or as I like to call it, "One Crazy Night in DC". Man, this took place in less Smithsonian museums than I thought. Since the statue of Amelia Earhart is a major character, of course the Air and Space Museum/Udvar-Hazy Center would be featured here, but the only other two Smithsonian buildings that were featured were The Castle
and the National Gallery of Art.
Extra notes:
-As Phil Swift would say, "That's a lotta property damage!"
-a wild Jonah Hill appears outta nowhere in one scene.
-They're all wax statues, shouldn't they not feel pain when attacked?
-Betcha didn't know that Hollywood Records-era Jonas Brothers were in this, eh?
-Why were Oscar the Grouch and Darth Vader in one scene? No idea, they thought it would be funny.
-Hank Azaria not only playing the main villain, but also does double duty voice acting for some characters too.
-Ending the film off with a good old fashioned Earth Wind and Fire song again, can't complain about that.
-Metal Gear Roosevelt: the Twin Teddys. Thought that the second Teddy that appeared would lead to a plothole regarding if he knew Larry or not, but they narrowly avoided that plothole.
-Ah, George Foreman at the beginning.
-Betcha didn't know that pre-How to Train Your Dragon Jay Baruchel was in this, eh?
-Some parts of the film made me think that I only remember them cuz of the commercials, but the Earth Wind and Fire song at the end made me think "Maybe I actually watch this before and just forgot about it till now?"
-This still makes me miss Robin Williams. :(
Overall...not as good as the first movie. It felt more fantastical than it needed to be when it came to the lore of the tablet, and while that aspect was defo present in the first film, here it just felt like too much.
I don't think the third movie is on Disney+, so I'm afraid that this is the end of my walk down memory lane with this franchise.Apr 27, 2021
