1) Ora
Ora. Should be named De. Because the real protagonist is De and no matter what I tell myself he keeps taking the spotlight.
De is a fairly young (Demon) man (early 20s) who used to work as a traveling necromancer with his partner Mallory since they were both 12. He was taught the trade by his mother from as early as 3, and was truly gifted from young. Though after an unfortunate accident De was gravelly injured and was forced to stop working for years while he nursed his wounds. Within that time was when he met and "somewhat" befriended a Fae woman who stayed in the small town he held up in. During this time De had became very bitter and generally that jerk in the corner no one wanted to be around (understandable) so the surprise to see this woman putting up with his rough demeanor was a shock to most... Even De himself. Which was even more surprising when she simply up and disappeared one night, the only trace of her was a small baby with a will that asked specifically for De to take care of them.
"I'm leaving this child in your care. I wish for you to show it as much of the world as you can. I'm sure from all your travels you of all people can pass down your culture to them?"
Posed as a question, but if she were to read it aloud he knew her eyes would be only that of demand. So there on a cold spring night (his birthday funny enough) De was left with a very small baby, half Fae, half Demon. With the only instructions were to pass down his knowledge to them. And within the next few years that's what he did.
Ora
Named after the small white flowers that grew in bunches in the fields that sway towards the ocean. They're a curious child, a fast child, a child that seems to have a need to soak in wisdom to grow. As if made specifically to learn and adventure. As soon as they can walk they wish to see the world. -And that's where the story starts.
Throughout several short stories De passes down his trade to Ora while teaching them demon culture like customs, cuisines, writing, and arts.
Yes this is basically to satisfy my want to info dump world building aspects of my story that I can't shoehorned into my main plots. (Did you know in demon culture tiles are very important... They even have their own font for writing on them and most tiles tell a written story or spell on them... temples are constructed and covered in tiles and if read correctly by an elder the whole building works as a fucking catalyst?) But also to throw in some small messages like growth and healing...
Some other fun buzzwords you might like: trans protagonist, magical gays, nonbinary visibility, technically disabled rep, pan rights,
