@maffister's post on Artfol

can we please break the "personality = design" stereotypes ?

people talk about it almost like it's a rule .....
no villains dont have to wear more "sharp" clothes and they dont need to look all dark and scary.
no cute/bubbly characters don't have to be all colorful and "rounder"

idc if it "helps" people know what kind of personality your oc have. if your drawings are good enough, you dont have to base their whole design off their personalities.
imagine if we did that irl

thank you

i like doing this but yes it should not be a rule, that would be dumb!
Honestly, especially with villains it's so much scarier if they look all innocent and cute or what would be considered normal but then they turn out to be a psychopath, also dark and scary looking characters who are actually sweet as hell 👁👄👁
Like the Fairy Godmother from Shrek 💕 she looks so elegant and motherly and she's one of the best villains 😌
Exactly! That's a huge pet peeve I like to avoid when designing. They don't need to act the way they dress. I can have an insane Jack the ripper kin OC and they look nothing like how they act.

That was an example, I don't actually have a character like that... I think, I don't remember, I might have to go check back in my truckload of OCs.
