@not_xpr_art's post on Artfol

This isn't really a question, but does anyone else get annoyed with the way social media has forced artists to aim for 'consistency' in order to appeal to algorithms rather than just creating what they want??
Like... you have to have a consistent style, consistent subject matters, consistent colour schemes, consistent use of medium, etc etc...
& I just find that really boring tbh... idkk

I used to have Instagram and had all those tutorials out in my face, never really understood it :,) I mean I just draw what I want and get a dose of happy :D
Yes! That’s why I decided to make an Artfol, as I got some bad habits from insta, even if I tried not to care about the algorithm. This has been such a fresh breath of air!
Totally annoyed by that! With trying new things every time I draw, my style constantly changes, so I have no consistent style 💆🏻‍♂️
Yup. My full time job leaves me a little too tired to work on art consistently. So I can't keep up with algorithms designed to boost influencer content. Like, I want to get a following, but you're punishing me for having a life outside your hell app.
yeaa i often feel weird abt posting my traditional work bc my digital work has a much more consistent color scheme :/
Oh, don't forget the consistent posting schedule! I mean, yeah, you better be a robot to please a robot
Yeah I feel that!! For me what kills me most is the need for consistency in posting. I have fluctuating bursts of inspiration and feeling the pressure to post on a regular basis is really daunting. I wish we could go back to where we could spend 4 years on a piece and not be judged for the time it took and make that $$$ 😔✌️
Nah, you’re right lol
