Do you all use references to draw wrinkles and folds in clothing or do you just go for it and see what happens ?

Usually dont, since my characters wear boring clothes but If I like one outfit in particular I do use a reference

Combination of both. I sew as well as draw, so I have that knowledge of how certain fabrics should fall and fold— but sometimes I still need a reference if it’s not looking right.
•
I usually tend to just eye where the creases would go and use my own clothes for reference
•
I just go for it but if I'm having trouble I find a reference (and it always turns out better so I should probably do it more often ;-;)
•
I've been trying to understand folds for years and i just can't wrap my head around them. So I try and find references for more serious illustrations. For anything quick that's more about just trying to get an image of the character out... I kinda don't bother.
•
I try to logic it out, but if I can't seem to get the look I'm going for, then try to make my own references
•
For sure! You can never know anything without looking at it. I'f also recommend to not just look how others draw them, but also look around people you see when you go outside, or look at real pictures of people too!

Kinda just go for it.
I sometimes look at references but tbh I just dive right in
