The Tripleta
Cleansing bad juju with these cuties
Solace again but in company of Porco and Zolys, his two foster parents. But I must ruin it with a bit of background
so WARNING, sensitive topics ahead! Before the human enslavement arc, he was within an organization named the Lighthouse Sanatorium.
In there, they train children and adults alike into the ways of the Nothings. Orange jumpsuited special servants who are brainwashed into service of all kinds. They're basically what if you could rent an all purpose person to do anything you needed. Wanna have your AC fixed? They can do it. Wanna hunt, but have no guns or equipment? You can rent one of them and they can do it without need for equipment. Need someone fluent in a specific language? These guys can understand any and translate to utmost perfection. Unfortunately, with the skills comes the depersonalization. No Orange Jumpsuit retains their personality after they finish the Procedurals. Most of them are broken into a catatonic/robotic state.
They never show to have needs. They never flinch from injuries or illness. They never question or speak unless spoken to and asked. They never accept gifts, favors, or meals. They don't look at the people they serve unless it's their preference. They're always facing forward with their foreheads high and their priorities straight. All that matters is serving the ones that asked for them. They do it for the Light and only for its cause. To desire is greed. To show weakness is to demand attention. They're nothing and the people they serve are something. And without something, they're nothing. However, Solace never caved in completely.
Yes, he was traumatized out of ever asking for help or notifying his needs. He had a very hard time adjusting to not needing commands to sit down or move places. He never spoke as it was trained into him unless he was promoted to. He also felt the guilt of being selfish for eating the same food as his temporary masters. However, Porcupine, the local artificer and ex-sheriff of the nearby town, didn't feel it was right to let him live that way. He worked hard to not only rent Solace, but buy him off the hands of the Sanatorium. This happened just as Solace was marked to be put down/killed due to every broken rule he deliberately enacted on to do what he knew to do best: save people.
It was pretty backwards in his opinion. A cult dedicated to serving people selflessly, and yet, it was only if the right coin was paid for that service. He never felt it was right, so he served people his way. Porco could see that, even though he still says he bought Solace's freedom because his talent building machines was wasting away in said cult.Feb 27, 2022
