Meeting MaiMaiThis is the art style I use for depicting flashbacks (especially emotionally charged ones). Since it's from Nagen's point of view, he's the only one with detail. (Others usually have one trait Nagen latches onto, thus the razor gloves are highlighted)
During the story, Nagen runs into a multitude of potential mentors. The one he ends up bonding with the most is MaiMai: aka the "Medusa Killer". She delved so deep in her role as an urban legend from the dark web, that she stopped identifying with her 'normal' life.
She takes pity on Nagen, and offers him shelter after his plans to take over the city fail. Her nonjudgmental attitude gives Nagen the perfect environment to finally show vulnerability in front of someone for the first time since he ran away from home.
Meeting Nagen gave her a new purpose; one that encouraged her to retire her villainous methods for good. While Nagen's away at the teen villain reform school, she's busy trying to prove that she can be a suitable guardian. She even gets a makeover to look the part.
