Ok so I've been struggling on how to portray predator/prey dynamics and what to do with the meat-eating population, but I think I found a solution. Because like, I have everyone mingling with each other (2 of the main characters are literally a cow and a maned wolf that are inseparable). I could just say "oh they all eat meat substitutes and vegetarian alternatives" but that seems it might cost a bit. And even if they found a way to make it super affordable for everyone, not everyone will have access to them, such as rural communities and other places where the ingredients would be hard to come by, and some animals' only digestible food is meat. So I propose that when someone dies, their body can be given (donated even) to carnivores. There could be organizations that take the body and prepare it to be eaten, kind of like organ donation. Of course there's need to be the consent of the person while theyre living, saying that theyre fine with their body being used like that, and of their family after theyre dead. This world would have a different moral compass than ours, so it's acceptable to an extent.May 16, 2021

The consent to donate meat I think would fit best. Perhaps they have to acquire some legal document and physically sign to give consent that when they die, and of course they can retract that consent if they choose todo so before they die
