Lift

Hello, Artfol! This is my latest piece and my crowning achievement 🥺⚒💪😤 It is a teapot, made with copper, silver solder, liver of sulfur patina, colored pencil, and quarts beads. I didn't measure it yet, but it is about 5 inches tall. The teapot sits loosely on the leaf base and can be detached. Better pictures will be coming soon!

I based this piece off of the character Lift from the "Stormlight Archive" series written by Brandon Sanderson

if you havent read "Edgedancer" yet and don't want to be spoiled, skip this next part

When Lift was 10, she asked the Nightwatcher to, essentially, give her the ability to not change. "Edgedancer" is set 3 years later, but she still claims she is 10 years old. I made this piece a lotus blossom to show Lift's eternal youth. She has powers to make plants grow at an unnatural rate and to make herself slick, like she loses her friction (which she uses to steal rich people's lunches) The plant theme and lack of a handle emulate these powers. Lift's powers come from a relationship with Wyndle, a spren that takes the form of a clump of vines that have crystal-like thorns and fade into crystals that shatter into dust as he moves. Wyndle is the inspiration for the spout shape. I love this piece and I think it represents Lift very well, but also very poorly because I can't imagine her looking twice at a fancy teapot that can't even be used! Thankfully, she is fictional and will never judge my work :)

Oh super cool! Great tea pot! The Stormlight archive is definitely a favorite of mine. I was very lucky and got to do a drawing for the Way of Kings Leatherbound edition. I need to post that-
Wow I love this! The texture looks so real
