Outfit August 25: MapGunners Universe (Djura)
Quite a color shift from the usual, I admit but for good reason. The aforementioned country of LeRoi uses the colors of gold and blue for their crest and flag, representing the fertile earth and the clear sky and ocean, which is why their military, scholars, and caravan leaders usually wear blue. There’s something about an officer’s uniform that really just fits Djura, no matter the color scheme. I nearly went for a bun look but something about having numerous ribbons seemed just extravagant enough for his ostentatious ass XD.I went with a kyu gunto sword style again with a little more flourish because it fit the sort of officer’s look I was going for. The blue metal on the blade matches Hideki’s polearm to indicate a unified source.
His mirror is an etched glass compass, bearing this world’s (Aion) cardinal directions: Top, Bottom, New and Old, corresponding with our own directions of North, South, West, and East. The gemstone is a tooth from a creature rumored to have come from the New World or close to it.
Fun fact: Soi, the Midren traveling with Hawkins, cannot use compasses, and as such requires traveling with a caravan as he cannot reliably navigate with and without one. This is because his innate somewhat supernatural ability, the Riddle of Steel, interferes with compasses; it does however allow him to manipulate his bullets and their trajectory or any metallic projectile/weapon. Riddles are often specialized powers unique to mainly Midren, or people of the former Midguo empire. Such Riddles are often studied but as there are so many different specializations within a “category”, and most Riddle bearing Midren are nomadic or insular from the other nations, details are scarce even with integrated members of the population.
Traveling with LeRoian caravans gives Djura a great advantage in moving about the world, but even he loses track of the itinerant Hideki more than he would like….Aug 26, 2021
