Hiii does anyone have tips on digital art? I only started drawing with my finger on ibispaint x a couple of months ago and wanna know if theres anything I should focus on to improve <3Dec 23, 2022

FLIP THE CANVAS, train your eyes to notice those mistakes! Also I recommend using only a couple brushes at first to get used to. Trust me, if you just start using a ton of different brushes on one piece when you're still new and learning, your painting is gonna have wayyy too much going on

I don't think it has been said but avoid shading with black ! It will make your colors muddy... Try shading with a darker color that you have used in your drawing, like brown, dark blue, purple, etc
Play with the layers and their options too, like "multiply" and such ( idk how the ibis paint ones are )

If you're struggling with sketching, you can sketch traditionally and then do the lineart digitally. It helped me with the transition between traditional and digital

Try finding some free ibispaint x brushes you like to use for lineart, shading, details, etc. One of my favourites for lineart is Nanalineart, which I found online, I can try to link it and a few others if you would like that as well :D
Also try and figure out your settings, like the stabilizer settings you prefer, thickness of brushes, opacity, etc. And also, try to get used to the filters, they can help with making stuff like glitch effects, blurring and all sorts of backgrounds, as well as the resources in-app for references or backgrounds.
OH! And using the blending modes are extremely helpful for shading and highlights :D
But that's just what I've learned through using the app, so some of it is dependent on you and what you think is comfortable and good :)

I would look at artists you like that use digital art and see how they go through it process etc through speed paints or tutorials. It can be very helpful getting started and figuring out the program. Then once you get used to it you can also experiment on your own and see what works best with your style and getting the outcome you want. I agree that you should probably get off your finger and there are some good Bluetooth styluses of Amazon. It probably won’t have sensitivity depending on the stylus but I wouldn’t spend a whole lot of money on one at first. This probably didn’t help much but good luck!

Get a stylus and stop using the finger as soon as you can for a more user friendly and pleasant experience. And draw a lot so you get more familiar with the software
