Tabletop Stories Ahead!!
Tonight was the best Pathfinder session I've had in AGES! It feels so good.
My wonderful sister babysat our 1 year old so the hubby and I could just play instead of switching off to watch her during the game. It's a good thing too because we fought the big boss at the end of this arc of the adventure.
I had a fantastic character moment as well. A bit of background first: My Cleric character Lavinia is highly healing specialized but recently abandoned her God Pharasma, and converted to Irori because her life goal is to achieve true and perfect immortality (not undead, just eternal life and youth). Pharasma is the Goddess of life and death but over time I learned she was the wrong diety to go with for my characters goal so I had Lavinia abandon her and convert to Irori.
Well during this boss fight Lavinia has the opportunity and throws out a massive spell that deals a ton of damage to the boss, she dwarfed everyone's damage in that one hit. So the boss took notice of her and just before he died cast Disintegrate on her. I failed the save and he critical succeeded against Lavinia's AC, so the attack hit and when it reduced me to 0 HP Lavinia's body disintegrated into fine dust. Which is really bad because you have to use an expensive hiiiigh level spell to revive someone without a body. Thankfully we had found a scroll in this dungeon earlier that could do just that.
However while Lavinia was dead her soul went to where all souls end up, the plane of her former Goddess Pharasma. Needless to say she was not pleased (Lavinia may have talked bad about Pharasma a fair bit since apostasizing
). When the party revived her Pharasma resisted and didn't want to let her soul go back. Somehow the spell succeeded but Lavinia was warned that it was unlikely it would succeed again. If Lavinia dies from here on, she's gone for good.
She's one of the best characters I've ever built so I don't want to lose her, but DANG do I love this development.
