So YeHua here had a petal curse, 6th to get it. It basically allows him to have 5 other Xixing/elemental magic outside of his own. And this guys is a secret boss. In order to activate the side quest you will need to find a guy thst says, "Hey! Can you help us defeat a Lyr (similar to a Yokai) ?" If you agree you can fight him.
From Yehua's opening dialog you can see this dude (and co) bully YeHua a lot. Mostly cause the village calls him the Lyr Child, he's not tho. Just a human.
After you open up this quest a new NPC has a new dialog tree , a girl who tells you he's not actually a Lyr. If you activate this particular tree when you go fight Yehua there is an option for him to join your party.
If you fight him without talking to the girl he will just be an npc that you can farm exp on.
If you don't have him join up, he becomes a shop, mostly for items that can ward off Lyr. Some hp and mp potions too.
If he does join up, the best place for him in the party is in the back as a long-range aoe attacker. Also has an option to make repellants and things at camp, a rare item before this point. And if you visit the village you will notice they had increased their defenses. If you talk to the local shop keep there will be a new option to have Yehua sell Lyr warding items to him.

AHH This is so cool! 
I love that there are options for how he integrates into the game too, I can see it so well. And it works well both as a boss intro and a character select. I'd be so hyped tbh if after I got him as a playable, his character select screen harkens back to his boss intro
