I got advice to not have any reference. Which like, the old masters had to look at tons and sketch because they couldn't just snap a photo plus carry it all around like go draw me something perfectly from memory I would really like to see. We learn the more we do studies and inspect the subject we're trying to create, that's something you learn in art school right away. But it goes over people's heads so often

Probably the most overused advice: "just practice." Yes, art varies from person to person, but over generalizing it is pretty useless. And it doesn't help people who are still trying to figure their art out or in the midst of a block.

•Hmm, well I don't think I've personally received any horrible advice (yet), but I have seen shitty tutorials lol one post I saw on instagram, said to never use saturated colors?? And a YouTube video I watched a long time ago, said not to mix complementary colors because it makes "ugly colors"
