Hi yes this mf finally gets a face after years of being nothing because my ass could not draw nor conceptualize men back then... And yk it's about time he has a face especially since he's now grown more than just Libulan's ex phooey.... NE ways time for the yap:

Fun facts about Arawan:
Been working on the lore behind the scenes. Guess what... He's Taryo and Kara's older sibling now!!!! But yeah all three of them were made by the same primordial deity.
Sun + Fire God but a lot of mortals also associate him with life.
a really popular deity tbh. Had the most followers prior to colonialism. Meaning a lot of people had his gift. His patron kingdom is Gab-i's kingdom (I still have no name) mainly because before the first moon rising he gifted them fire in order to help them ward off the aberrants that plagued their town during the night
accidentally wiped off the first generation of mortal creatures because he got too excited and basically forgot his own status as a god. His light killed them all cus he didn't turn it off day and night. 24/7. And they all burned into a crisp. Brutal. The primordial deity that made him had to start all over again and make a new batch of creatures and he learned his lesson by then.
Actually really close to Kara (they both collaborated in order to defeat Bakunawa) but Taryo? Not so much. Especially not after what happened with that first wave of souls that died. Especially not after what happened when their "mom" had to be "killed" by the death twins.
his eyes are closed. He doesn't open them. Only on very rare occasions. It kinda meant to symbolize how he's kinda detached from a lot of things. He's always well intentioned but my god he can be a little stupid yeah? And his stupid,,, very disastrous for those unfortunate enough to get caught up in it. (First gen killing, and he almost ended the world again for the second time. But that's a story for another day)
His true form/magic is encased by an outer shell. He "sheds his skin" when the day is about to start.
I had to change his name to Adlawan here because there is no R in baybayin. Adlaw still means day/sun but it's in my language (apparently ilonggo is not a dialect whoopsss) and no longer the Tagalog word which is Araw.

Design rambles:
is inspired by our university's trashion show. One of the contestant duos went as La Nina and El Niño I believe(? Not sure cus it was loud as fuck and I was not processing audio very well) and El Niño. HIS COSTUME. Very gender. Tbh design wise I didn't take much from the costume itself, just the wild fiery hair, and the black + red skin. It was really cool to me (but oUghh everyone ATE IT DOWN my fave had to come from the COT dept. They made this beautiful ocean themed costume I think about it a lottt.)
he's supposed to have markings all over his body like Taryo and Kara but I'm lazy and I don't feel like doing it. So I gave him those glowy cracks instead. It only appears when he's expressing strong emotion cus it inadvertently causes his magic to break through that outer shell he makes
Halfway through making his design I kinda realized how much it resembled a Kapre. Which if u guys didn't know, is a crechr from Filipino folklore that are described as big, dark skinned humanoids that live on trees and smoke tobacco. They're tree giants. They're neither malevolent nor benevolent cus on one hand, they protect nature (ur not supposed to fuck with trees if u don't want Kapres to fuck with u) and they can be befriended and they're pretty chill if ur chill with them. But on the other, well they're also kind of dicks. They like to play tricks on humans and travelers. And if you're a woman, and you just so happen to be a beautiful one,,, well it would be best to stay clear of wooded areas if you value your safety... They're very persistent suitors you see. (Sounds awfully familiar)
Depends on who you're hearing the story from but they're either depicted as gentle and patient in their courtship, but sometimes they're also depicted as violent rapists. Personally as a kid I've read more stuff about the former. I was an avid reader of those filipino horror anthologies and I remember reading a lot about Kapres. Most of them were romance oriented/ more focused on their protection of nature. And there was one I read that was unfortunately just plain smut and I should not have been reading that at the age of 9
but like from stories I heard from peers + family members? Yeah more focused on the evil/mischievous part
