Scam Pin of Shame
I know this is an art platform. I don't usually post stuff like this, but with so few moderators/devs, we have to be cautious and look out for eachother! My first scam message recieved today! Please be cautious of @makaylaand2.
-----
How this is a Scam:
The scammer will send a simple question: "If you were to recieve $X,xxx dollars deposited to a Payment Platform, what would you do with it?" Followed by various suggestions.
Their goal is to get your PayPal/CashApp or other Payment Platform info, send you money from a Hijacked Account and ask for some of it back, most likely to a different account.
You'll be technically responsible for stealing the money the scammer sent you from the first account, in which case the original owner of the account can go after YOU for theft of the money once they get their account back! You'll lose out on the original amount, the "extra" returned to the scammer AND platform fees!!
----
My intention is NOT to cause a witch-hunt of this user! Don't harass this user. If you get a message that's suspicious, just report, block & move on.
Take caution. I've seen a lot of different scams around Discord, Steam & the like.May 28, 2024
