Have you heard of Shirley Chisholm? She was actually the first black woman to run for president in the US in 1972. I found out about her back in high school while researching the civil rights movement. I'll never for get how she said that black men hated her because she was a woman. She faced more discrimination because of her gender than her race. Her own people, facing the same racial discrimination, against her, just because she was a woman and they couldn't stand that.
