In her world there a crystals that can be implanted into your hands which can enable you to do magic . The crystals itself can't do the magic, it can only work when a drop of liquid potion made contact with the crystal. Diffrent potions mean diffrent magic .
When the crystals in one's hands are cracked or shattered it can have dire consequences.
I am Still trying to figure out the story and how the magic will work but I hope this made sence
