I just REALLY realized that Marinette HAS LITERALLY ALMOST ZERO connections to her Chinese side... She doesn't even know a few words in Chinese. I don't remember her making any chinese dishes or eating any before the special. (Which the new special is supposed to take place between s2 and s3)

I haven't seen her have chinese inspired outfits and her mom is hardly in the show...

I understand that she grew up 'White French' (because white french people have different experience from colored french peeps bite me) but you're telling me her mother didn't even teach her nothing? I know we had the episode with the grandfather but STILL.

I've met black people who grew up in a white neighborhood but still have some connection to their culture. They may act different and not have all the same "codes" as us but they still understand who they are. Same goes for mix people of color, they know about BOTH sides not just one. Especailly since she was dark skinned and not white passing, she knew and was aware of her racial background .

I'm sorry I went off but , maybe it's because Marinette is white passing for the most part that she didn't/doesn't bother to try and be more invested int her Chinese side?
Like yes I get it she can't "go back to her land" that's not what I'm saying at all. But it'll be nice if she predicated in her other side of her culture more often. Just little things.

I haven't seen or remeber a chinese new year episode? Like maybe Marinette doesn't want to be apart of that culture, but then show us that because I'm trying to remember (other than the new special which is in the past of the timeline) where she openly said she was Chinese or did something related to the culture.

Also someone pointed out to me that adrien probably has a thing for strong/ confident Asian girls because of his taste and now I can't unsee/hear that.

omg right?? I think the only logical explanation would be that her mom was also raised in a predominantly white area(considering that she doesn’t have an accent) but even w that u can still see that she has ties with her culture from her outfit and the things in the house. Ik a lot of mixed Asians tend to not learn the Asian language(just from the ones that I’ve met) but even with that, they usually still celebrate holidays and partake in traditions, but its def not as prominent as a non mixed. Marinette is just straight up 100% whitewashed(I mean I’m willing to bet that no one behind the miraculous team is Asian LMAO)
