Someone on Instagram said my art reminded them of Steven Universe....
why.
Nothing against SU, it's not a bad show, it's just... that's not really the kind of vibe I want my art to have y'know
I know the person probably meant it as a compliment, so I'm not mad or anything. But now I'm like... reevaluating my art style and figuring out how to get it to have the vibes I want.
Then again... I'm not 100% sure what vibes I actually want my art to have.
Like, I definitely want people to see it as cartoony and fun and bright, but like... not in the way Steven Universe does it, if that makes sense? I don't really know how to explain it hhhh

Edit: I think it's the fact that a lot of people don't like SU, so I don't want people to associate my art with it. When people see my art, I'd rather them associate it with more well-loved cartoons and comics, y'know? And again, I'm sure the person who commented that probably just really likes SU, so they meant no offense. May 4, 2022

I personally don't see SU but a lot of people also assume any one with a "cal-art"/very cartoony round like style with bright colors to shows like SU or SVTFOE. So I get it ,the person was going for "oh magical fun(adventure)!" vibes and that's not what you're aiming for.
I was originally gonna say a lot of people like SU but the fandom is toxic like most. But eh they got a different type of toxic going on
