I didnt stick with my art school lol- it seemed like the only thing to do that 'made sense' for me, but having to go through all the art themed core classes felt like a joke when it was all sooo expensive. I learned a good bit in my color theory class but it killed me that it was basically the only art class I got that first year... and I learned more from studying James Gurney's stuff later. But i came in at a bit higher level than some of my classmates, so idk.
(Not to say that your experience would be the same! But, I would definitely recommend doing most of your core classes in a community collage first as others have also suggested. Save a lot of $$$ that way

•I’m doing community rn- and I’d honestly recommend doing that to get a taste of what art collage may be like. It’s a good way to see what the art workload is like and it’s much cheaper

•i went to a design uni and now im studying a fine arts master's degree, all i can tell u is that you'll eventually find your own voice there but at first it's kinda overwhelming because of the workload and the luck u have with classmates and teachers, but it's really the best decision I've made

•You're gonna hate the workload and class length. People think art is easy but they don't have 3-5 hour long classes twice a week, having to spend hundreds out of pocket for supplies, dealing with transporting all that stuff and still have to take normal classes and credit after credit of heavy history with 20 page plus essays. It's a love hate relationship

•Its been 2 months since i started to an art college and its really creative space. It gives you a discipline and you are not just learning to make art.. You are also learning every espect of it..also it helps you to building up your career as an artist. ° ^°

When thinking of where to go for art I needed to keep in mind how much is tuition? Do they give scholarships and am I eligible?
I also wanted to stay closer to home so I looked at the colleges near me when deciding.
I don’t have much advice to give regarding where to go other than that.
