to catch a fallen star

I had an idea of an angel spotting a falling star and trying to catch it out of curiosity, but falling into the ocean due to its sheer force. Even though the star causes her to fall, the angel still holds onto it protectively, not letting it touch the ground where it will lose its shine.

Painting water is such a challenge and something I’m trying to improve on. Seeing how blocky the colors of the water + bubbles look, it seems like I still have a long way to go (´ . .̫ . `)

Drawing this piece helped me gain a better understanding how to paint skin in a way that is colorful and yet somewhat realistic. I also love the sharp lighting hehehe I think I’ll try to incorporate that in more of my drawings.
