Mini art rant ahead??? Not rlly a rant but more of a thought I wanted to talk about haha
I recently started realising how weird it is to explain art-related things to a non-artist (or maybe even things related to content creating in general to a non-content creator) because there's this lack of?? Relating???
Idk if that's the right word to put it, but I quite really mean something like how someone not in the fandom wont understand a fandom-related meme even after having it explained? They can see where it comes from or what the idea behind it was, but won't really understand it for the lack of context that makes it funny for the ppl in the fandom kinda??
I think it's similarly like that with content creating; both sides can kind of see where the other is coming from, but still can't really see eye to eye (that phrasing is making it borderline dramatic haha)
For example: when it comes to interactions w an art piece. As incredible it is when I notice a post of mine has gotten a spike in attention and more people than usual are seeing it, i get incredibly overwhelmed by this sudden attention (incredibly gratefuly too ofcourse! Just also really nervous and overwhelmed)
From my friends' pov, it's fucking amazing! And it really is, but I noticed when mentioning am so overwhelmed by it, an expression of ? Is clearly visible on them haha (am lucky cuz my friend(s) r so supportive when it comes to my art)
I can see why theyd be confused by me feeling nervous and scared abt it, cuz more interactions = good thing, no? Yeah, but still, no one prepares you to how weird it feels to be on the recieving end of such attention
Another example would be when talking about a bad comment (i ranted abt this before haha) but since when putting out content, a comment as simple as "why tf does it look like that lol" can really get you down, and while my friend tries their best to understand that and comfort me, i can again still see the ? on their face, with an almost unspoken "just ignore it"
Idk if am making sense
i just wanted to talk abt this a bit cuz i think it's somewhat intresting lol
Thanks for coming to my ted talk if you've read all of this cuz omg even i won't read it again and correct any typos hahaMar 17, 2022

non-artist not understanding artist was always on my mind when I always told about my problems drawing. But I think it’s more about being passionate about doing a hobby/job. My parents don’t really create but understand the hard work and dedication it takes to have a skill but passion to draw. Course there’s still specific things they won’t get since digital art is still foreign to them but understand the general idea of working hard for something you love to do. I guess that kinda rub off me when I see someone being passionate About their works even if it’s not art related.

•this is completely valid rant. it's really hard talking to someone about content creation if they don't create content themselves. "how are you exhausted? u just draw" or "why are comments upsetting u? just ignore them", because we put stuff out, harold, that has thoughts and emotions behind it.
some just dont get it and won't even put effort into it ig
